After a series of repairs and a few important improvements Atlas is once again ready for flight! We’ll be flight testing this week from Sunday, June 9th, to Thursday, June13th, continuing in our attempt at the AHS Sikorsky Prize.
The team load testing the structure and making the final adjustments to the external bracing lines.
With a full-time summer team we’ve planned for a full week of flight testing, which will allow us to take slower, more methodical approach. In the last round of repairs, we’ve also been able to fine-tune the truss geometry to improve some of the clearances that have been giving us trouble in the past. Shortening the truss means that Atlas is lighter than ever, and with a few changes in the external bracing lines, it’s stiffer than ever.
